The Ecowitt WS90 is a wireless 7-in-1 weather station for measuring local weather conditions. Its integrated sensors monitor wind speed and direction, rainfall, temperature, humidity, illuminance, UV index and barometric pressure. This provides current weather data for monitoring, alerts and weather-based automations.
The ultrasonic wind sensor measures wind speed, gusts and direction without moving parts. The haptic rain sensor also operates without a traditional tipping bucket. This solid-state design reduces wear and maintenance and makes the weather station suitable for long-term outdoor installation.
The WS90 features a ShellyX chip and therefore carries the Powered by Shelly label. Measurement data can be displayed in the Shelly Smart Control app through a compatible gateway. Adjustable sensor offsets allow readings to be adapted to the local installation environment. Pressure trends can be used to identify changes in the weather and alerts can be configured for conditions including rain, wind and UV radiation.
Bluetooth and Zigbee operate simultaneously. The WS90 can therefore report data to multiple gateways and be combined with Shelly devices and compatible Zigbee systems.
Use with Shelly Smart Control requires a Shelly BLU Gateway or a Shelly Plus, Pro, Gen3 or Gen4 device. Shelly sensors cannot be used as a gateway.
The weather station is primarily powered by its integrated solar panel with two AA lithium batteries providing backup power. An optional 12V power adapter provides continuous power and activates the integrated ultrasonic wind sensor heater to melt snow and ice. The IPX5-rated housing is suitable for outdoor use and mounts on a pole with a diameter of 25mm.
